A woman with green hair is chased and killed by an assassin. However, the next morning, she wakes up safe and sound in her own bed, hinting that it was a dream. (lol, not) At the office, her assistant Mimi brings her Vodka when she asks for water, but it appears both of them are perfectly fine with alcohol. (Mimi looks like she's 15, though.) Rin, as we find out her name is, goes in search of a cat, but she bumps into a college student. When the boy is subsequently assaulted by a trio of suited men, Rin saves him, and brings him back to her office. Mimi chafes at her for not finding the cat.

Bix nood
The boy, although not a victim of amnesia, wants to know who he is. He remembers that his name is Maeno Kouki, and all information related to himself; but it doesn't seem real. That night, Rin sees some floating pollen-spores that will recur throughout the episode, with some sort of phantom tree in the background.

Recurring theme is recurring.
While visiting Maeno's house the next day, Rin and Maeno are attacked again. After Rin defeats them, she finds out they are from Ueyama Estate. Rin uses her connections to find out more. The gangsters don't know anything, so Rin tracks down a police 'friend', Tamotsu Yanagihara. He displays great embarrassment around her, hinting at a possible prior relationship. Tamotsu says that Ueyama is connected with Aoyama Pharmaceutical, which Maeno recognizes since he worked for them part-time before.

Ooh lala. Also, poor cop.
Rin goes undercover as a call girl to get information from an Aoyama Pharmaceutical executive. She is interrupted by the assassin from the beginning of the episode, who says, 'I hear you didn't die.' Amidst the nudity, Rin defeats the assassin and escapes. As the assassin lies dying in a pool of blood, the shape of a man materializes out of the blood, to her terror.

Only good picture of the assassin. She proceeds to get thrashed in who-knows-how-many-ways by Rin.
Shortly after Rin and Maeno infiltrate the Aoyama Pharmaceutical lab, Maeno has a flashback where he recalls some rather gruesome scenes (and eroge ones, too). The two go spelunking in the vents, where Rin's butt sets off the alarm and they are subsequently captured.

I wasn't kidding when I said her butt sets off the alarm.
Rin is tortured and killed by Sayara Yamanobe, who is in charge of the facility. The latter is a sadist who likes to apply piercings to her victims' bodies, leaving them to die from blood loss. It is quickly revealed that the current Maeno is a clone, with the original presumed dead. The original's genes were apparently ideal for cloning. Rin calls humans who seek immortality stupid, which offends Sayara, who beats Rin to death. (Instead of letting her bleed, lawl.)

BIG STICK
As Rin's body is put in the morgue, Sayara goes to tell Maeno that Rin is dead.
Rin, however, is not dead, and she frees herself from the morgue and the piercings that Sayara gave her; healing herself in the process.

Glowy healy glow that heals with the glowing of healing of glowing. Also, glowy.
She is quickly detected and chased, but the security detail backs off when she reaches a sealed-off area. Delving around reveals a plethora of human organs, as well as a couple of dying men. As Rin goes further, Sayara releases a door from the control room, which reveals none other than bunch of undead zombies. (lolwtf, also Geneva Rights Convention would have field day with this place.)

lolwut
Sayara moves to escape the facility, instructing the security officer to burn it. When she reaches the control room, however, she is shocked to see Rin alive. She shoots Rin, and breathes a sigh of relief when she thinks that the latter is dead. Of course, Rin wouldn't die even if she was killed, and a terrified Sayara runs outside the room to call for help.

Oh shi-
She is met by none other than her horrific creations.

BAD END.
After escaping the facility, Rin tells Maeno that he's a clone. She then gives him a handgun, saying that he should use it if the 'pain is too great'. As she waits, a gunshot is heard, and a saddened Rin drives away.
However, the next day a familiar face shows up at Rin's office. Maeno brings the cat that Rin had been looking for earlier, and asks if he can work with them. An ecstatic Mimi immediately agrees.

Awh, happy ending.
Thoughts:
So uh, this series has a lot of blood, gore, blood, nudity, blood, gore, blood, nudity, blood, gore, and blood. Did I mention blood? The theme is a bit dark, even if the scriptwriters do try to lighten it up every now and then. Rin and her immortality doesn't really put an interesting spin on this anime, even if she does use her ability to its full extent in episode one. (She dies 3 times. That's more than 2.) A lot of foreshadowing goes on with the pollen-spores that only Rin can see, as well as the phantom tree. Also, Mimi smells like a fake little girl.

Like Darker Than Black, but with added gore and nudity. And Rie Kugiyama? Win.

I liked DtB from the beginning, whereas unsure about this one. Still seems interesting, though.
Also Rin is maybe a keiyakusha? lawl.
