A recap of the previous episode, and then on to Rahzel denying the existence of black magic. Yes, despite being a magician. For lunch, the group heads out and (again) has some exceptionally terrible food and play trump cards.

Strange like metal?
One of the bullies, the mayor's son, is shown running in the sky burial site, but trips and falls. Look of horror, gunshot, etc.
Some commotion grabs Rahzel and co's attention, and they come running to find a crowd of villagers gathered around the mayor's son's body. That night, the villagers go on witchhunt to Jean-Foup's inn. When they begin breaking windows, Lalawel pleads with them to stop. A rock is thrown at her, which Rahzel catches, chiding the villagers. This only serves to redirect the villagers' anger, until Jean-Foup himself comes out.

Waaay to redirect anger
Jean-Foup says that he killed the mayor's son, as well as his own wife. His wife had apparently cheated on him, and that she was pregnant with another man's child. Moreover, she wanted to divorce him and run away with the other man. Well o-kay, that doesn't fly too well, and he kills her with a pair of scissors.

That's no good.
After sky-burying his wife, Jean-Foup finds an abandoned baby, Lalawel, nearby. He takes her into his care, as a sort of 'penance' for his crime. Despite not admitting to any black magic, he said that he had intended to kill all those who had abused Lalawel. Taking a switchblade out of his pocket, Jean-Foup quickly dispatches himself.

Across the jugular
Outside of town, Rahzel is still rather disturbed. She feels that Jean-Foup was covering for someone, and that Lalawel may still be in danger. The trio decide to head back.
Lalawel goes to answer some pounding on the inn door, and a shadow engulfs her.
Rahzel and company arrive at the inn, and shortly after hear a gunshot. They run to the 'black magic' room, to find Lalawel standing over a dead mayor, holding a gun. She says that it was self-defense, the mayor wanted to take revenge for his son on her.

So, uh, what's the pillow for?
However, she goes on to say that she is a killer. When she was four, a customer's cigarette accidentally burned her forehead. It hurt, so she shot him. In turn, this sparked a trend, and according to Lalawel her score is 7-0. Jean-Foup disposed of the bodies to cover her.

Yep, psycho.
With her incrimination done, Lalawel throws a candle onto the floor, starting a fire. She asks Rahzel if the latter finds her disgusting, killer-to-killer. Flashback reveals the life story Rahzel told Lalawel. Rahzel's mother had an incurable, fatal disease; fell deeper and deeper into madness. Her father left in hopes that the problem would go away, but it did not. It came one day when Rahzel feared for her life, and killed her mom. Rahzel's father comes back, and takes Rahzel into the forest, leaving her there.

Oh, naughty Rahzel-chan
Nevertheless, Rahzel tells Lalawel she doesn't find her disgusting, and extends her hand. Lalawel, however, points the pistol to her own head, says something about caring for Rahzel too, and POW she's dead. As the trio escape the flames, Rahzel cries about not being able to save anything with her hand.
Later, Rahzel mourns the death of Lalawel, but Alzeid and Hi-tan urge her to get it together. She does, and they both reach out their hands to her, and the three set forth, fresh as ever.
Thoughts:
Well, so, um, moral of the story: Don't kill. Unless you're the main character. Then it's okay. I can understand Jean-Foup's motive for killing his wife, she was pretty unremorseful about her infidelity, etc. Lalawel was just a psychopath. Either way, not much loss here. Mayor and his son had been set up as pretty unlikable characters - but anyway everyone dies. Whoopie. Rahzel and company head out for their next adventure, another job well done.
