A pitiful Lawrence manages to get some money thrown at him …a whopping 3 Rumione. Sulking back to the inn, he apologizes to a sleeping Horo, leaves the sack of 3 Rumione, and heads out. (Presumably to become AN HERO.) Once outside, he's hit on the head by the money sack, and looks up to see Horo calling him back.
Back inside, Lawrence attempts to apologize to Horo, which earns her wrath. Horo surprises Lawrence, she isn't angry because he told her off; she's angry because he didn't blame her. Apparently she's been mulling with guilt this entire time.
Lawrence responds that he couldn't be angry since she'd followed him because she was worried. Flying into a rage, Horo picks up a chair, loses her balance, and almost falls out the window; before being caught by Lawrence. The resulting situation leaves the two in a compromising position:
Recovering, Horo rants more on Lawrence being a 'softy'. Right now Lawrence seems really out of character, but he pretty much tells Horo that he cares for her. (Finally.) Horo calms down, and the two hug; with Horo making Lawrence promise that he should go ahead and be angry next time.
With the two in business again, they sit down and count their money. Three and two-sevenths Rumione. Horo, however, tells Lawrence that she has a plan.
The next morning, Nora is told by her priest-in-charge to take a dangerous route; the one with reports of mercenary raids. This leaves her visibly fettered.
At Remerio Company, Lawrence and Horo present their plan - to smuggle gold. Remerio is taken aback by this outlandish plan; since the punishment for getting caught is very severe. (Loss of dominant arm.) In addition, restrictions are very tight, so chances of getting caught are high as well. Lawrence, however, enters a new part into the equation: What if there was somebody who could smuggle gold well, had little or no pay, and resent against the Church? (Gee I wonder who that might be…) Remerio contends that if such a person existed, they would be already taken. However, after being convinced by Lawrence (and Horo), he agrees to help with their plan.
Lawrence and Horo meet Nora in front of the church later, and propose to her a job. She is immediately ready to hear them out.
Beginning his pitch with her pay - 20 Rumione, Lawrence moves on to denounce the Church. He voices her fears: That she will be sent continuously into dangerous places until the Church can label her as a pagan magician.
The plan is to get gold from the pagan city of Ramtra, hide it in the sheep's stomachs, and using Nora's low-key profile, slip it back for massive profit. Nora agrees, but says that only because it was Lawrence who asked her. This slightly troubles Lawrence and Horo, but nevertheless.
That night, Lawrence mildly regrets giving Nora the bad end of the deal. Horo quickly dispels this, by saying Nora is a strong shepherd, one that even she respects.
Meanwhile at Remerio speaks with a man named Liebert, saying 'We have to do it. We have no choice.'
Thoughts:
You know, with all this 'softy' talk, I don't really think that's Lawrence's true personality. Before, he wouldn't waste any time asserting his opinion. However, with this episode and his much more apparent feelings towards Horo; he' softened up. Horo complains about this, yet I feel she's trained him into his 'softy' state.
Anyway, it seems Shin was semi-right about Nora being the pagan magician. She…well… is, except that she's not a pagan magician. Everyone just believes so.
