Allison and Wil catch up to the kidnapper's plane, but are intercepted by an enemy fighter. Allison's quite the crack fighter, though, and has Wil deploy smoke while she skillfully maneuvers the plane to make it appear that they were shot down.
However, she doesn't look where she's going and they crash into some power lines. Allison tells Wil to run, and shortly after their plane explodes. Meanwhile, it appears that the kidnapper is in league with Sou Beil, as the fighter reports to the kidnapper. Allison and Wil reminisce about old times, when they spy a fawn. Allison tries to woo it, but the parent deer appears. Wil moves to shield Allison, and ends up taking hoof to the head. He's knocked unconscious, prompting Allison to pull her sidearm at the deer. Despite her anger, she relaxes since the deer had only wanted to protect its young.
Showing her physical prowess, Allison carries Wil until she finds a cottage nestled in the woods. She meets a woman named Travas Radia, who takes them in after seeing Wil's injured state. Radia treats Wil, then questions Allison about why they're in Sou Beil. Allison truthfully replies that they're here to rescue a kidnapped person and find treasure.
That night, Allison apologizes to Wil for getting them this mess and intends to sleep outside, but Wil forgives her and says she can share half his bed. When she warns him of her bad sleeping habits, he says it's okay, he knows. She's not kidding, when Radia checks on them that night, Allison's hogged all the covers to herself and Wil is sneezing from the cold. Radia covers Wil up, and he says, 'Thanks Grandma Moot', which surprises her.
Next morning, Radia asks Wil if he stayed at the 'House of Future'. He's surprised and says yes, and Radia with him about Grandma Moot. Grandma Moot was apparently a well-respected noble woman who emigrated to Roxche to start an orphanage. Wil's parents left him there when he was three, and Grandma Moot gave him his name. Allison, on the other hand, was living with her dad until she was eight, when he died. Wil says that when Allison came to the orphanage, she was different from the other children who were scared and lonely. She was…well, Allison; immediately making Wil her 'henchman'.
Conversation finished, Radia asks Wil to get the firewood, but mistakingly calls him 'Levin'.
When Allison wakes up, Radia notices her torn jacket and asks if she needs it sewed. Allison hastily pulls her jacket, causing her military rank plate to fall out. She says that only special units know the insignias, since apparently even she doesn't. Wil suddenly remembers to when the old man looked at Allison's rank plate and immediately recognized it. He tells her that the LOF was telling the truth, and they should go find the treasure that will end the war.
Radia says they should give up, but they refuse, and she decides to help them out. She gives them her late sons' Bezel Royal Guards uniforms, a distinguished unit in Sou Beil, which will allow them access to almost any military base. Radia also gives Wil a pistol.
After sending Allison and Wil off on the delivery truck, Radia tells herself that she hated Roxche for taking her sons Tims and Levin away from her. However, she now knows that the people of Roxche have suffered just as much.
Thoughts:
Really a heartwarming episode. Radia was rather icy at the beginning, and as the delivery truck driver said at the end, 'I've never seen her smile like that.' Sporting their new outfits, we'll see how Allison and Wil fare in rescuing the LOF.
I still can't get used to Wil's voice, though. ._.
