Summer has arrived, and Naoki plays at the tennis club, but Kotoko must take remedial courses. Naoki's little brother, Yuuki, is currently using Kotoko's day-by-day antics as his research project, and he doesn't have very flattering things to say.
After summer classes, Kotoko and friends drop by her old house to see the reconstruction efforts, but there hasn't been any progress. This is surprising because it's been four months already. Meanwhile, Kotoko's dad and Naoki's parents discuss over some blueprints, presumably for their new house. Naoki walks in on their discussion, and becomes very irritated that his mother wants him to marry Kotoko. Of course, Kotoko comes just in time to hear all this, so she and Naoki clash again.
That night, Kotoko receives a call from Jinko, asking if she wants to go to Waterland on the day after the remedial class ends. A eavesdropping Naoki's mother couldn't have heard better information. Yuuki continues his unflattering dictation of Kotoko. Also, both Kotoko and Naoki's father head out for a reunion for an unspecified amount of time.
Waterland day arrives, and Kotoko's friends prepare for some fun. To their surprise, Naoki and Yuuki appear as well. Naoki's appearance makes Kotoko suddenly conscious about her conservative swimsuit.
Wanting to catch Kotoko in more embarrassing situations, Yuuki asks his brother to go get ice cream, and sneaks into the adult pool. Since he's a little kid, however, he is sucked underwater, only to be saved by Kotoko. Yuuki runs off, but Kotoko follows him and befriends him, and they later have fun on Waterland's famous water slide.
When it comes time for Kotoko to ride, however, her leg cramps up. As soon as she exits the slide, she begins sinking, but is saved by Naoki. Naoki says that it is just returning favor for saving Yuuki.
Later, Naoki's mother says that she needs to take care of some urgent family business, taking Yuuki and leaving Kotoko and Naoki alone. Naoki asks Kotoko to cook, but she's terrible at it, so he ends up doing it. That night, Kotoko decides to sneak into Naoki's room to steal his homework answers, when she discovers Yuuki's 'journal'. Infuriated, she adds an entry praising herself. Remembering her original intentions, Kotoko grabs Naoki's notebook and is about to sneak out when Naoki, who's been awake the entire time, grabs her.
Pushing Kotoko onto his bed, Naoki suddenly turns very scary. Kotoko helplessly protests, but Naoki laughs and releases her. He says that she can use his notebook, and she ends up gulling him into helping her.
Thoughts:
This episode seemed to lack a solid direction, but I suppose in the end it accomplished its purpose - bringing Kotoko closer to Naoki. Not only does Kotoko earn points with Yuuki, but she also has Naoki questioning himself at the end. Not a bad turn of events, really. Although, it does seem pretty convenient that all their parents are gone. The ease at which things seems to be moving along can also be attributed to Naoki's mischievous matchmaking mother.
