Hikari and Kei are helping the Student Council with the Founding Day Festival. Kei's decidedly unhappy about having to work with the Student Council, so as usual his aloofness causes the entire thing to turn into a contest. Which Hikari is fine with.
The two sides this time are the Special A and Student Council, both vying to see who can claim the spot of festival organizer. And by Special A vs Student Council, I mean Kei vs. Hikari and Student Council. Kei has the 'Anyone not me will only slow me down' attitude down, and Akira defects to Hikari's side. Akira has all the effectiveness of a squealing fangirl though… oh, wait.
Their initial face-off has Kei blowing Hikari's team away. Hikari mopes around until she realizes that Kei's doing everything alone again, that and coupled with Kakei's attempted sabotage of Kei's work, she decides to drop the contest altogether. She meets with Kei, who is more than happy to work together with the love of his life, Student Council or no.
With Kei's one-man-island philosophy supposedly broken, he has the other Special A members assist with his plan. Day of the festival has the entire school booked onto a cruise liner. As they approach an island, the water around them begins shimmering with sparks. Docking onto the island, they go up a path to the festival area, which turns out to be a future theme park called Leisure Land that Kei had reserved for the occasion.
The Special A members muse that the entire setup seems to be just for Hikari. (No wai.) Kei asks Hikari what she thinks, and after playing the tsun-tsun card for a moment, she admits that it's fun.
Thoughts:
So what's this about Kei opening up to others? He still kept most of his plan a secret from everyone. Hmm. And while the other Special A members helped out with various things (Tadashi with school's permission, Akira with a nice boat, etc.), it was glaringly obvious that Hikari didn't get to contribute a thing.
Well, I had my fun with the scene where Hikari 'appeared' to finally recognize Kei's affection… it was quite obvious that he would be riding the hope train with a one-way trip into the disappointment wall. Still amusing, though.
I'm not going to mention any sort of blandness anymore, everyone else can do that for me.
How much manga do you read?

Agreed with Webb on this…. Also, I’m also not sure if I’d tag this comedy anymore. :P

As much as I cannot stand Kei, I still have to say Ice Cream > Cotton Candy any day :P

@ Webb: Sorry, we’re all out of plot today.
@ Caitlin: I suppose so. The humor is forced at best.
@ issa: I like both! I can probably eat more ice cream than cotton candy though.
