Note: All animes listed with an image are on the prospective watch list.
Birdy the Mighty Decode
(鉄腕バーディーDECODE)

Studio: A-1 Pictures
Synopsis: The original Birdy the Mighty involves a high school boy named Tsutomu Senkawa who gets caught up in fight between interplanetary space cop Birdy Cephon Altera and a space criminal. Well, he dies, and the only way to save him is to merge his body with Birdy.
Thoughts: Can't get more gender neutral/confused than this. On the list.
Chocolate Underground
(チョコレート・アンダーグラウンド)

Studio: Production I.G
Synopsis: In a certain country, chocolate has be completely banned. Two boys, Huntley and Smudger, along with their friend Louise, stand up to fight the law: they begin bootlegging chocolate.
Thoughts: LOL WHAT. Banning chocolate? Bootlegging? lolol Prohibition and Al Capone, anyone? Sounds pretty lulzy so I'll give it a watch.
Telepathy Shoujo Ran
(テレパシー少女 蘭)

Studio: TMS Entertainment
Synopsis: Ran, who has ESP, teams up with her friend Midori, who is an Esper, and her boyfriend, to go on mysterious supernatural adventures.
Thoughts: Not watching this so much as an implicit interest in it but more of *looks at discard list* omg I'm watching like nothing.
Antique Bakery
(西洋骨董洋菓子店)

Studio: United Pictures
Synopsis: Yaoi yaoi yaoi Korean. Tachibana, Yuusuke, Eiji, and Chikage band together to form a cafe named Antique, where they and their customers can come together to cherish one of the few but truly important things in life: boy love cake.
Thoughts: Yeeessssssssssssssssssssss~
(Upon further research this isn't yaoi, lols. They even turned the one gay character straight for the live action. Oh wells xD)
Koihime Musou
(恋姫†夢想)

Studio: Dogakobo studios
Synopsis: Erm, it's Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Go read it.
Thoughts: I'm pretty much only watching this because I really liked Romance of the Three Kingdoms. (The real one, anyway.) I'm half (actually fully) expecting this to suck because it's ported from an eroge. Oh well, we'll see.
My thoughts on the other series as well as brief reasons why I may not be interested:
Detroit Metal City: Heavy death metal anime? More like heavy death NO.
Blade of the Immortal: Main character cursed to be immortal until he kills 1,000 evil people. Lots of gore and fighting. Umm, no.
Natsume Yuujin-Chou: Boy who is able to see ghosts seeks to free their spirits. I…I don't really like ghosts… :x
Slayers Revolution: Not until I watch the first, if ever.
World Destruction: Based off of some DS game I've never played. Ho hum.
Ultraviolet Code 044: Genetic mutation turns an actress into a superheroine. Ehhhh.
Strike Witches: Sky Girls v2. Nah.
Yakushiji Ryouko no Kaiki Jikenbo: Bishoujo vs bishoujo. Nein.
Mahou Tsukai ni Taisetsu na Koto: I haven't see the first one yet. But I am interested. :<
Mission-E: I should probably watch Code-E first.
Hidamari Sketchx365: Nope.
Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu: Guy falls in love with beautiful girl who is actually a closet otaku. Oh god.
Sekirei: Do we ever get tired of complete loser guys who suddenly become the target of a harem? I did.
Ikkitousen Great Guardians: More like Fanservice-tousen.
RoboDz Kazagumo Hen: Unappealing.
At least it'll be less work than Spring 2008 season, lols.

Well good now there will be more free time!
Also what happened to Zero no Tsukaima 3? :P
That + Slayers are the only 2 on my guaranteed list.
Doesn’t matter, as Soul Eater will keep me busy until next spring :D
Also the Antique jdrama was a snore. I couldn’t watch it through despite Takki being in it.

just one thing - there is no such a thing as “heavy death metal”. I know, to some it’s all the same. ;)
May 27th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
Looks like i’ll be busy this summer plus whatever other series I’ll still be catching up on or looking at still.LOL I loved Birdy the Mighty for the record. ^_^

“expecting this to suck because it’s ported from an eroge”
I’m not the biggest fan of that genre, but I don’t think you should say that. Some eroges actually have really well written story lines (for instance fate/stay night, Air, Kanon, and Da capo), it’s just that that most anime adaptions are bad.

You can’t meaningfully critique anime you haven’t seen!
May 27th, 2008 at 5:09 pm
The premise of Antique Bakery cracks me up. I will probably watch Blade of the Immortal though.
May 27th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
@ Hinano: ZnT3? Idk, hmm. I should watch Slayers 1 then huh? :p
@ freedoleen: Oh, well, I don’t like either, so I just assumed I would REALLY not like them combined. ^^;
@ Webb: I think Birdy the Mighty only has a manga before this. Well there’s an OVA…
@ Choux: Actually, that’s what I meant. F\SN and Tsukihime animes were pretty terrible, despite being good themselves. So even if Kouhime Musou is good (I haven’t heard anything good anyway.), then there’s no guarantee the anime will be.
@ Baka-Raptor: None of these are critiques. Just uneducated guesses and exclusions!
@ Caitlin: I might watch Blade of the Immortal and Yuu-jin, maybe.
May 27th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
I will definitely watch Mahou Tsukai because the first left a good impression in me.
May 27th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Oh why must 2008 anime be so much fail?
May 27th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
I’m really not excited for the new season as well, nothing looks particularly outstanding or even eye-catching at all. Chocolate Underground and Mahou Tsukai are the ones I’d be most excited for out of the choices I guess…banning chocolate? lmao!
May 27th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Anything with Chocolate in its title must be worth the watch :P If there’s one thing I’m guaranteed to watch next season, it’s Antique Bake- I mean Hidamari Sketch!!!
May 28th, 2008 at 4:24 am
@ Sojourner: I want to watch the first! After all the other anime I have lined up… ._.
@ Fang-tan: FALL 2008, NODAME CANTABILE 2 omgomfomgmg *dies of excitement*
@ lostty: I predict Chocolate Underground best anime Summer 2k8 p:
@ issa: Watch Antique Bakery with meeee ^^
May 28th, 2008 at 4:30 am
Hmm, those you gave special mention seemed quite good. I guess I’ll be checking them out cause the summer season just feels lacking. O_o
Oh well.. >_ <
May 28th, 2008 at 11:58 am
Ah after a boring season, I’m going to see more boring animes! Maybe ZnT3 might be nice, on 2nd thought, season 2 wasn’t really…Maybe I’ll catch Soul Eater to tide me through next season. ^.^
May 28th, 2008 at 1:21 pm
ZNT3 for the time being. The rest looks meh.
May 29th, 2008 at 12:20 am
@ Ez: Of course, my taste in anime is unparalleled. Don’t mind what the Team page says.
@ Hynavian & Shin: I haven’t even watched ZnT1
May 30th, 2008 at 9:24 am
You should be shot for comparing Strike Witches to Sky Girls. It’s much better and it’s not v2. Strike Witches is older than Sky Girls. It was announced long before it.
May 30th, 2008 at 12:55 pm
@ Anonymous: “ZOMG I DON’T APPROVE OF YOUR ANIME COMPARISON THEREFORE YOU ARE TERRIBLE AND I AM RIGHT.” I’m sorry, anthropomorphizations of military planes look uncannily like girls piloting exoskeletons. Even you can’t deny that.
May 31st, 2008 at 8:33 am
WTF? I never saw this! XD
I dunnoes, I like this season better. None of these anime sound good …
June 1st, 2008 at 6:37 am
I suppose it’s like what happened when the Writer’s Strike was on, people watched DVDs of their favorite old shows instead of feeding off the old media of Television Production.
People will find ways of enjoying Anime, using methods you can’t imagine. They’ll make their own Anime shows if they have to. Flash MX fulfills a need in society there.
That’s my view on the matter. You can’t really complain that one season is worse than the last if Anime has provided entertainment for years. Don’t like the new stuff? Revisit the old stuff you loved.

[...] be under this paragraph so go to it if you really feel like looking at a ton of bad (dot dot dot)Summer 2008 Anime List In other news, Toshokan Sensou is FINISHED, the subbers finally finished it yesterday and i was so [...]

There’s no combination… it’s just genre separation even though they all “sound the same” to you… I’d say heavy metal is just anything, and death metal is either from Norway/Sweden/Finland and whatnot, then there’s progressive metal or power metal, like Dragonforce or something, blah blah….
Metal + anime for the win! \m/

Natsume Yuujin-Chou may have ghosts and spirits, but it’s not scary at all! It’s about this boy named Natsume who has to return all these spirits their name from this book that his Grandmother made (she went and collected all the names from them). It’s a very peaceful and relaxing anime. I recommend it.
