Eye-lightning for the best reason ever: To see who gets to give Naoki the shoe horn.
Kotoko is visibly pregnant now, and pleased at her preggo-boobs. While visiting Kinnosuke with Satomi and Jinko, they find out that Chris is also pregnant. Chris proudly shows off some cute baby socks that she has knitted.
Some passer-by on a cell phone doesn’t take any notice to the pregnant woman obviously in distress.
Naoki is meanwhile quite busy working on his thesis. Kotoko is still working, holding off as long as she can before taking a maternity leave. That night Naoki stays behind to finish his thesis, so Kotoko goes home alone. She collapses along the way, however.
Nice to see Naoki concerned enough to show it on his face for a change
Does that even require asking? =_=
Kotoko wakes up to find Naoki’s family and her father by her side. They’re glad that she’s okay, but Naoki goes off somewhere to mope about not paying more attention to Kotoko. Yuuki gives Naoki a pep-talk, and they both return to see Kotoko failing at making some baby socks. Naoki promises Kotoko that he will be there when she gives birth. (No duh?)
A month later, Naoki is attending maternity class with Kotoko (No way!) when she goes into labor. That night at the hospital, however, Matsumoto is rushed in along with Sudou. Matsumoto’s ulcer has relapsed, and the only available doctor is Naoki, even though he is still a novice doctor. Amidst the chaos, Kotoko shows up and tells Naoki to be the lead surgeon and operate on Matsumoto. The surgery is successful, though Naoki misses out on Kotoko giving birth.
Why are they still in Naoki’s parents’ house?
Kotoko is not pleased.
Timeskip, and we see that Kotomi has grown up to be a very bratty little girl. Kotoko is as insecure as ever, as she competes with her own daughter for Naoki’s attention. In a series of ending images, we see Chris and Kinnosuke’s baby, as well as Satomi’s and Jinko’s. Matsumoto and Sudou are married, and Yuuki has started dating. The episode ends with a ‘whoops we finished it too fast so now but wait there’s still one more episode so let’s just do some flashback’.
Thoughts:
It’s interesting to note how Kotoko has not, whatsoever, matured throughout the series. She’s still insecure about silly little things like her own daughter saying, “I’ll marry papa!”
Also has anyone noticed how Kotoko’s mother, and Kotoko herself, seem to replicate themselves? Kotoko’s mother looked exactly like her, and Kotomi is looking like she’ll grow up to be another Kotoko. Itakiss – the neverending cycle. XD
I lol’d at Jinko’s kid. And did everyone in have daughters in this series, or what?

I think everyone took one look at Irie Mama and her boys and decided girls were the way to go XD

irie-mama rules! if not for her, his sons might as well be monks… well, they’re lucky since they will have tons of pictures though the thought of either my or my significant other’s mother coming up to us with that is just *shudder*
and trust me, the last episode is crap. not because i got trolled subs, but it just was…

I really love this episode. I just love the characters, everyone of them. This series gave me a warm feeling inside. ^^

This was the best one outta of the whole series. I really enjoyed it very much. I still couldn’t believe Kinnosuke had 3 kids by then myself. Girls….stick to the girls. LOL Also, I agree about Kotoko. The cycle we’ll probably never end. The genes in her family for the ladies are like clockwork.

Planning on the parents getting fed up of waiting and moving out themselves. Or at least, that’s what I’d do, given the chances of getting a half-decent mortgage these days.

@ issa-sa: Haha. It might just be the whole ‘this is shoujo series’ thing, though
@ biankita: Well, once they END the series there’s not really anywhere for it to go but down. I heard 25 is something about a flashback with Kotoko trying to earn Naoki’s grandpa’s respect or something. *facepalms*
@ Arachnicus: But it’s not over yet!
@ Webbmaster62: Kinnosuke had 3 kids? I didn’t think those kids tugging at the suited gentlemans’ hair were Kinnosuke’s…
@ IKnight: That would be on your mind, wouldn’t it, with your new place and all? ;p
