Upcoming Updrift: Touhou Anime
Yes, as you’ve heard, Touhou, that FANTASTIC shooting game, with some mugen, will be having an anime. No, the anime will not be broadcasted on any channel (at least I think not yet).
Maikaze, the doujin studio/team behind this amazing yet unexpected franchise, will be releasing the anime in the form of a limited edition DVD box set, which includes the OST CD, character pictures, and some more stuff.
The release will be in Comiket75 so Rakuen won’t be able to grab that (i hope SUGOI) DVD box set. <sigh>
Anyhow, this being a doujin project, meaning amateur, I’m having worries with quality. BUT what caught my attention was the cast: starting with Mai Nakahara (Nagisa of Clannad) as Hakurei Reimu, Miyuki Sawashiro (Tsugumi of Kannagi) as Kirisame Marisa, Ayumi Fujimura as Shameimaru Aya, Mikako Takahashi as Patchouli Knowledge, and Tanaka Rie (Lacus of Gundam Seed) as Sakuya Izayoi.
I’ve heard one episode will be like 10-15 minutes, so it does look-sound-smell-taste like a doujin project.
With so much popularity achieved by the Touhou Project, I really hope this really gets adapted to an official anime, not that I’m against this doujin project. Wait, why didn’t any studio thought about taking Touhou?
Despite this, I have high hopes for this, so I will be lurking for a while some more.

Not to mention the big names in the seiyuu casts.

I was introduced to Touhou a few months ago, and played the game.

Oh! I just found out about this this morning! I haven’t played any of the games yet but, I’m interested in it. I was always surprised that no big anime studio ever picked this up. I see millions of fan art, videos and such to this game, do they not know how much money it would bring them?

Yes, that’s one thing: Smart people being stupid. IF this becomes an official project, they’ll just have to insert a dance ED, then I’ll be more than happy to watch it.

Sounds pretty interesting to me! I’m thinking watch before judging if it’s fail or not, even if they’ll be snippit half-eps. Just got into a few months ago myself, I look foreward to this.
