Britannian forces begin to assault Babel Tower, but first Lulu has a flashback to fill us poor viewers in.
Naturally, the victor of Lulu and Suzaku's standoff was the Ultimate Coordinator. Note how Lulu aimed for Suzaku's head, while Suzaku aimed for Lulu's gun.
Suzaku drags Lulu before Charles vi Britannia, the Emperor. (Omgsh his name!) The Emperor immediately recognizes Lulu as the former 17th successor to the throne, and Suzaku offers his (former?) friend as a bargaining chip to become a Knight of the Round. He's still insistent of changing Britannia from the inside, though he seems to be going down a darker path.
Papa Charles then uses his Geass (damnit, not this again) to install fake memories into Lulu.
Kay, back to the present. C.C. denies her involvement in The Emperor's Geass before Lulu can even ask. Lulu also realizes he never had a brother…
They're interrupted by a patrolling Britannian Knightmare, which Lulu quickly commandeers.
Governor-General Carares denies Guilford's offer to help, and heads to the front himself. Lulu's newly acquired Britannian Knightmare allows him to see their troop movements, and he uses this to make a mess of their operation.
Elsewhere, Papa Charles shows Ultimate Coordinator Suzaku a special place, one that none of the other Rounds or even Schneizel has seen. The Emperor refers to it as the 'Sword of Akasha', a weapon to destroy the Gods. It either is or resides in a floaty temple-like building.
Kallen confronts Lulu, asking him if she'd followed Zero willingly or was a slave of the Geass. Lulu says the truth, she followed Zero of her own accord. She's relieved and suspicious at the same time, but Lulu quickly changes the situation by pointing out that she's not exactly properly attired.
Led by Carares, a horde of Britannian units move in on Babel Tower. Carares plans to make the Order of Black Knights to 'escape' into his waiting forces. Lulu, of course, knows exactly what Carares intends, and has the Black Knights set up various explosives around the building. They're interrupted by the arrival of a new unit, however, which wreaks havoc in Lulu's plans. (sighh Déjà vu)
Seeing the hopelessness of the situation, one of the Shisei-ken, Captain Urabe, commits seppuku against the mysterious Knightmare. The ensuing explosion allows Lulu to blow Babel Tower, allowing him and the rest of the Black Knights to escape.
Babel Tower collapses onto an unsuspectant Carares, giving Lulu a 'Just as Keikaku'd' moment. With Britannian command in disarray, Guilford steps up to command. Just then, Zero's image is force-fed into all of the local media.
Using a special line installed by Diethard, the transmission is able to bypass all others. Zero says that despite his efforts, oppression of the weak is still occurring. Therefore, he needed to be revived.

Britannian command traces the transmission to inside the Chinese embassy. Bishounen Li is taken aback by the Chinese Ambassador's quick acceptance of Zero.
Outside the Chinese embassy, Li denies entry to some Britannian troops. Shortly after, the mysterious Knightmare arrives, and Rollo steps out. Again, Li denies him entry, but Rollo uses his Geass…
Thoughts:
Wow, hey, some questions got answered. And… even more spring up to take their place. Anyway. I'll try to provide some concrete alleys for your confusions to travel.
The Emperor -
Okay, so he's got a Geass that can override real memories with fakes. WELL, judging by how Schneizel knows of V.V. but not of the Sword of Akasha, I'd garner there's a THIRD (Yes, you heard me) character similar to C.C. and V.V. Howabout Z.Z. I'm going to sleep? Anyway, a friend of mine brought up an interesting point:
[ themacro: also wonder if emperor rewrote cornelia's memories in anticipation of lelouch asking her about the past ]
Rollo -
So yay, he's got a Geass too. And apparently his Knightmare can teleport. And he can maybe control minds, since that looks like what's about to happen to Li. I'm voting for 'Britannian spy', and he needs to be eliminated ASAP. Looks pretty evil in that last screencap.
Nunnally -
MIA. Best to ask Ultimate Coordinator Suzaku about it.
Viletta -
Obviously she hasn't lost her memories. So why's she a P.E. teacher? I'd assume it was to spy on Lulu but… does she really know that he's Zero? Last I checked, she only knew that she lost her Knightmare to a Britannian student. Maybe she's freelancing.
Cornelia -
MIA as well. Maybe ran off with Nunnally for one-on-one vacation?
Knights of Round -
Oh hey, more Coordinator pilots for Britannia. So, when are the odds going to turn in Lulu's favor?
I also thought that Kallen gotten over the fact that Lulu was Zero, but I guess not. Looks like she stuck around for some answers, seeing as how Suzaku dragged Lulu straight to Papa. I was definitely not disappointed by the execution of this episode. I am a little miffed at the plot, seeing as how Lulu didn't receive a fully triumphant return. Rollo just had to ruin the day.
Gogo United States of Japan! (guh that's corny)

Viletta saw Zero/Lulu’s face in season 1, right before Shirley shot her. So assuming she has all her memories back, she does know Lulu = Zero.
Shirley should also know, since she knew in season 1.
Best part of the ep IMO: Lulu’s sadistic laugh when the tower fell of the Governor-General.

Whoo, I got quoted on your blog. Pretty crazy, and overall, again, another awesome episode IMO.

@ Rift: Viletta’s memory was blurry, not to mention that she never *actually* knew Lulu = Zero. Also, Shirley’s memories were wiped, remember? Lulu’s laugh <333
@ Macro: Code Geass delivers!
